Snow Worries

The snowiest months are still to come, says Ski Utah. And the sunny blue skies we are experiencing now make for great ski conditions.

Recent information from Ski Utah reminds locals that although our current snowfall is below average, we are truly just at the beginning of ski season.

With our average annual snowfall of over 500 inches, the change to our season can be overnight. It is not uncommon for northern Utah to receive 3 to 4 feet of snow in a 24-hour period!

As people are talking about the dry winter this year and how much snow we don’t have, Ski Utah wants us to know that "the snow is better than you think!" Here are Ski Utah’s top five current facts used in answering the question 'how bad is the snow?'

# 5. Temperatures are cold; resorts are making snow and moving it around their mountains.

# 4. Sunny and blue skies make for great ski experiences for families, friends, and groups. It's also a great time to introduce a never-ever to snow sports!

# 2. There are 138 lifts in Utah, and 106 of them are OPEN!

February averages as much as 90 inches of snow, March has been known to deliver 100 inches, and even April averages 80 inches of The Greatest Snow on Earth™. So go enjoy the snow in the mountains and keep in mind the best is yet to come.
